REPORT Day 3
2001-02-07, 07:00 agian Mathew Swart is information service
for Scarborough: It is fireing!
Lars and me are getting in our big truck and try toclimb
up the road to the cape. Ralf Bachschuster is still waiting
there... but he did forget his boom! But well equiped Petersen
can provide some stick for the bavarian. And indeed the
place is awesome! Mast high waves and wind for 4.5. The
Duell of the Day: Mathew Swart vs Ralf Bachschuster. Today
we left the time limitation away. The conditions are too
heavy. After an hour of super wave riding Ralf broke his
Mast. A swim through half of the bay and climbing some rocks
he just got into his car, drove home to get a new mast and
came back to compete again.
This was maybe the best day in the year at Scarborough.
Later in the day more and more sailors made it down to the
place. But the morning session of Mathew and Ralf was coverd
by the best waves for months.

The
concept / rules for this
time:we changed the whole thing to a "duell". Each
contest is done by 2 competitors.
Heat duration: 7 min. with one man on the water at the time
then rotating to the other. All repeated 3 times, so the Camera
records totally 21 minutes of each rider. Changeing of boards
and sails during the heats allowed. Each rider chooses 1 minute
out of his recorded material. He determines the editing of
his movie. So he is able to select the moves he thinks to
be the best for his result. No special effects, except slow
motion. No Repeats of moves nor editing of moves in a way
where it looks like they are landed while in reality they
are not. The video clips will be online after our standby
period of 20 days. Around the 25th of Feb you will be able
to vote for your favorite competitors. The result will be
presented on this "web location". So tune in again.
