REPORT Day 5
2001-02-09,
10:00 sleeping in again. Try to catch LTU on the fon to
get information about our equipment. They promised to bring
the stuff down tonight... we will see. It is going to be
another hot summer day in the cape area. The forecast for
the next days: dropping SE winds but still quiet a good
swell. We will try to call the Hotel at Elands Bay to get
a report from there. So maybe we will go for the potthole
dirt road to the north.
13:00 we finally got hold of the hotel at Elands Bay: no
wind nor waves.
Now it is a good time to cool down in the flat ocean and
make a picture of a foot :-)) and to have a look for a new
car. Jürgen and Henning went sight seeing. Have a look
on daily-dose
to see what they got.
In the evening we go for a braai (barbecue) at the Surf
Hostel. Bring your own stuff and throw it on the well heated
grill. At 12:00 a convoi of at least 13 cars went down to
the airport to pick up the windsurf equipment. Most of us
got their bags but some even did not get it now. Shame on
LTU.

The
concept / rules for this
time:we changed the whole thing to a "duell". Each
contest is done by 2 competitors.
Heat duration: 7 min. with one man on the water at the time
then rotating to the other. All repeated 3 times, so the Camera
records totally 21 minutes of each rider. Changeing of boards
and sails during the heats allowed. Each rider chooses 1 minute
out of his recorded material. He determines the editing of
his movie. So he is able to select the moves he thinks to
be the best for his result. No special effects, except slow
motion. No Repeats of moves nor editing of moves in a way
where it looks like they are landed while in reality they
are not. The video clips will be online after our standby
period of 20 days. Around the 25th of Feb you will be able
to vote for your favorite competitors. The result will be
presented on this "web location". So tune in again.
