TG Webcontest Gran Canaria 2003

The Tideguide Webcontest is a new and fresh, easy to handle and interactive format of competition. 2 Sailors run a duel against each other and the world wide user group of the www is able to vote for a winner.

During the PWA World Cup 2003 at Vargas/Gran Canaria we were able to run another comp with Peter Volwater and Lars Petersen. Wind for 4.7 and small wind swell are the the conditions for this duel. Check out the action.

Gran Canaria
Constant strong winds through out the whole year with a peak in the summer months make it a great place for windsurfers. Waves are better in the winter months but can also provide good action during the summer. Vargas on the east side of the isalnd is one of the 2 PWA spots.

VARGAS is a 4-5 km long bay, which can handle a big crowd of Windsurfers. In regular trade wind conditions the wind is side/offshore to side shore – more gusty on the inside and more constant downwinds. The waves are breaking over a sandbar and can handle 1 to 3 meter. It is more forgiving downwind in the bay. The shore break can be a killer and booties may help to make entering and getting out more comfortable.
